IMAL

IMAL is the acronym for the spanish name of our institute, Instituto de Matemática Aplicada del Litoral. The only word that needs to be translated or explained in the name of our institute is "Litoral". Litoral is the region in Argentina determined by the coasts of the Paraná river. Located in the western coast of the Paraná system and over one the world largest freshwater aquifers, the city of Santa Fe was founded by Juan de Garay in 1573. The word "Litoral" also gives the name to the public university UNL (Universidad Nacional del Litoral), one of the two funding institutions of IMAL. The main funding institution is CONICET (Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas) in whose campus in Santa Fe (Predio Dr. Alberto Cassano) is located the Institute. Inside the Campus our main building is located at the corner determined by the streets L. F. Leloir and A. P. Calderón. Leloir was a Nobel Prize in Chemistry and A. P. Calderón certainly honors one of the most remarkable harmonic analysts along the world and the impact of his work in the initial and current research lines at IMAL.
